I want to try it just for fun. I don’t want viruses in it, but if there is no good free software is there any worth buying? Any ideas?
I am a music newbie.

If it’s free it is because it is not worth selling. If you want to produce music, invest what you can afford and you’ll be glad you did. i tried my hand at a cheap setup in the past and the music sounded cheap + you’re very limited in what you can create.

Buy decent software / hardware with a friend to share the cost. Best advice I can give.

I use limewire.. I get beats there and all… Just go to audio or the tab for music… type in what you are looking for and then download… check the free download web site.. Good Luck

To be more clear, my friend and I have some instrumentals to a few songs. Well, we used Adobe Audition to to mix our lyrics in with these beats. We turned these into new songs.

I was wondering if it was illegal to upload these songs to a Myspace Artist page. The thing is, were not trying to get profit from these songs, were simply trying to let others hear them. And the we would have the content set so that downloading isnt possible.

The Myspace terms aren’t clear enough with this subject (or maybe I’m dumb and completely overlooked it :\). If you could help me with this, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!

Depends on what the original copyright on the beats were. If the songs didn’t come from a HUGE label, then they might have a Creative Commons license. You could them redistribute the music giving credit to the original artist, and not charging for your version.

Most likely you will be ok putting your version up on the web. Just don’t charge for them, credit who made the originals and link to their pages or something. The worse thing that will probably happen is getting a letter from the owners to take it off. In which case just take it down, no harm done.
